Basic Function of the Position:
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Diesel Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting a wide range of heavy machinery and industrial equipment. Your expertise will ensure our equipment operates safely and efficiently, supporting our ongoing projects and operations.
General Responsibilities:
- Perform diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance on diesel engines, hydraulic systems, transmissions, brakes, suspensions, and air brake systems for heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, dump trucks, and ready-mix trucks.
- Use OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) schematics and technical manuals to accurately identify issues and execute repairs
- Conduct equipment inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards and operational efficiency
- Maintain detailed service records and documentation for all repairs and maintenance activities
- Assist in heavy lifting operations using appropriate equipment to facilitate repairs or replacements
- Support troubleshooting of electrical systems, HVAC components, and other mechanical systems on industrial equipment
- Operate and maintain programmable logic controllers (PLCs) to support automation processes
Requirements:
- Proven experience working as a Diesel Heavy Equipment Mechanic
- Strong mechanical knowledge of Caterpillar, Ford, Kenworth, Peterbilt, Freightliner, Oshkosh, John Deere, or similar heavy machinery brands
- Proficiency in reading schematics, technical manuals, and electrical diagrams
- Ability to operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently during repair processes
- Familiarity with automotive diagnostics tools and vehicle maintenance procedures
- Knowledge of hydraulics, air brake systems, alignment techniques, tire service, and HVAC systems on industrial equipment
- Excellent problem-solving and analysis skills for field service support
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining attention to detail
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and clients
Pay: $22.00 - $30.00 per hour
